Many of the characterisation techniques used in the analysis of polymeric materials can be used in the examination of materials that have failed or which have not functioned in the manner expected. The strength of the consultancy is in the specialised application of these techniques to quickly understand what has gone wrong.

Working with specialist laboratories including the "Birmingham Science City Research Alliance" a partnership of the UK Universities of Birmingham and Warwick, Sidwell Consulting and Analytical Services offers assistance with evaluating the cause of most types of failures involving plastics, rubber and related materials.
